Integrating climate into our strategy

Climate issues are an integral part of our corporate strategic vision, aimed at keeping global warming below 2°C in relation to pre industrial levels by 2100. We have a responsibility to provide cost-effective, reliable and clean energy to as many people as possible, while managing energy consumption and the related emissions. This is the meaning behind our ambition of becoming the responsible energy major.

Improving the Carbon Intensity of Our Energy Mix

To combat climate change without curbing economic and social development, the carbon intensity of the fossil fuel mix must be reduced. As an energy source that is more cost-effective and above all produces less carbon emissions than other fossil fuels, natural gas is one of the keys to the energy transition.

Developing Renewable Energies

Contributing to the development of renewable energies is as much a strategic choice as an industrial responsibility. We are investing in solar power and bioenergies, with the aim of increasing the share of low-carbon businesses in our portfolio close to 20% in 20 years’ time.

Improving our Energy Efficiency

Producing the same amount with less energy is what the energy efficiency challenge is all about. In response, we are encouraging our customers to use our products responsibly and making our facilities more energy efficient.
